McPherson, Kansas – The Haskell Women's Basketball team was on the road Thursday night as they look to end the regular season on a high note. Haskell would beat Central Christian College 91-54.
Haskell would look to take control of the game in the 1st quarter as they took a 11 point lead. The Indians would continue to score in the 2nd quarter and increase the lead up to 22 points. Haskell would enter the half with a score 28-50 lead. The Indians shot 56% from the field and 57% from the 3 point line. The Tigers shot 36% from the field and 35% from the 3 point line. Cerissa Honena-Reyes (SR/Fort Hall, ID) led the Indians with 15 points and Kelsey Grimaldo led the Tigers with 12 points in the first half.
Haskell would score 16 points in the 3rd quarter which was the lowest quarter scored in the game. The Indians would enter the 4th up 66-40. Haskell would continue to increase the lead and finish out the game up 37 points. Haskell shot 52% from the field, 37% from the 3 point line and had 19 turnovers in the game. The Tigers shot 26% from the field, 23% from the 3 point line and had 22 turnovers in the game.
Haskell moves to 12-15 record and 2-2 in conference for the season while Central Christian College moves to 9-15 record and 1-5 in conference.
Haskell was led by Cerissa Honena-Reyes with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals in 30 minutes. Following her was Kortney Meat (SR/Kingfisher, OK) 18 points, 14 rebounds and 3 assists in 32 minutes in the game. Tahnee Shaving (FR/Eagle Butte, SD ) had a career high with 14 points, 4 rebounds and 1 block in 12 minutes.
Haskell ends the regular season on the road with a huge win that will get them prepare for the A.I.I. conference championship in Point lookout, Missouri. This will be the second straight year
