Football - Tue, Sep. 11, 2012

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon as the Indians prepared to take on the Robert Morris Eagles for Haskell Football's Home Opener. This would be the second time the Indians would take on the Illinois team. The Indians lost in their first match-up against the Eagles in 2011, which would play a recognizable tune in 2012.

The Eagles came out strong as TaDarrius Douglas scored the first touchdown of the game in the first quarter. In the second, the Indians would look to answer back but could not respond bringing the final halftime score to a 0-21 deficit. After the half, the Indians came alive as Randall Battiest tucked in a 16 yard pass from Maverick Lang. Unfortunately the kick following would be no good. It seemed as though the Indians would make the spark to spread like wildfire, but Eagles quarterback Westerkamp was able to extinguish the flame bringing the final score to 62-6.

Malcolm Colemann rushed for 73 yards along side Tyler Rhoades who pushed for one 17-yard attempt. Maverick Lang threw for 138 yards with 16 completions and 1 touchdown pass.

Right now for the Indians Mark Lievens Ranks Number 2 in Division I for Sacks Per Game, Ranks Number 5 in Division I in Tackles For Loss per Game and Ranks Number 6 in Division I in Total Sacks.

Wilber Everett Ranks Number 7 in Division I in Total Interceptions, and Ranks Number 4 in Division I in Interceptions Per Game, and Malcolm Coleman Ranks Number 8 in Division I in Rushing Yards Per Game.
