Two Haskell men finish fourth, while one Indian woman places sixth

MARYVILLE, Mo. --The Haskell men's and women's track and field team wrapped up competition at the Jock's Nitch Northwest Open Saturday, on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University.

The highest placing Indians were on the men's side, Bryn Fragua who finished fourth in the javelin with a distance of 43.11 meters and Thomas Zunie, who also placed fourth, but in the 5000 meters with a time of 16:35.63.

The highest placing HINU woman was Christina Belone, who finished sixth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:55.28. Not too far off her place and performance was teammate Nataska Rouse, who finished eighth in the 400 meter dash with her time of 1:08.81.

Freshman Candice Hubbell was the highest placing Purple and Gold woman in the field events, winding up in eighth place in the discus with her distance of 30.00 meters. Right behind her was teammate Leslie Waseta with her 28.49 throw.

Sophomore Matt Woody also had a solid day for his school, finishing eighth in the 800 meters with his time of 2:09.46. Fellow sophomore Ian Stand racked up two top-10 finishes with his eighth place performance in the discus (37.09 meters) and his ninth place finish in the shot put, (10.09 meters).

All Gipp's squad will next compete in the Darrel Gouley Open, next Saturday at William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo.
